Saint-Gobain’s operations are divided into four sectors:

  • Construction Products
  • Building Distribution
  • Innovative Materials - Flat Glass and High-Performance Materials
  • Packaging

 

Construction Products

 

The Construction Products sector markets interior and exterior solutions through its insulation, pipe, industrial mortars, exterior fittings and gypsum activities.

 

Interior solutions

The insulation activity is compromised of production of glass wool, rock wool, acoustic and specialty ceilings and distribution of foams (in partnership with the major chemical producers).

 

The gypsum activity produces plasterboards, plaster and plaster products, insulation products and ceilings.

 

Exterior solutions

The exterior fittings activity is positioned as one of the leaders in the United States for products to construct the American house, through its CertainTeed company.

 

The industrial mortars activity offers external wall insulation systems, render and decorative finishes, tile fixing and construction mortar products.

 

The pipe activity designs and markets complete ductile iron pipe systems for the markets focused on distributing water for drinking, irrigation and sewerage and rainwater disposal, pipe systems for general industrial circuits and sprinklers in buildings, a complete ranges of valves, hydrants and connectors, complete iron pipe systems for the building markets (wastewater and rainwater disposal) and ductile iron manhole covers and gratings for access to networks (water, wastewater and telecommunications).

 

Building Distribution

 

The Building Distribution sector is Europe’s leading distributor of building materials and the number one distributor of tiling in the World. The sector has developed considerably through both organic growth and acquisition and today has over 4200 sales outlets in 26 countries. Key markets include construction, renovation and sustainable home improvement serviced through a network of branches. Target customers include building contractors, tradespeople, architects, contractors and homeowners.

 

Innovative Materials - Flat Glass

 

The Flat Glass division produces flat glass, processes and distributes glass for the construction and automotive markets and produces specialty glass, including products for home appliances, nuclear safety glass, fireproof glass and glass for electronic applications. The business has 34 float glass lines around the World, including 13 joint ventures.

 

Innovative Materials - High-Performance Materials (HPM)

 

High-Performance Materials focus on products for industrial and construction markets. Its expertise lie in three families of materials: mineral ceramics (ceramics, grains, powders, abrasives and crystals), performance polymers (performance plastics) and glass fabrics (textile solutions). Boasting an unrivalled portfolio of products, the HPM sector also has solutions for the automotive industry.

 

Packaging

 

The Group’s packaging business is the world’s second ranking producer of glass containers and makes bottles and jars for food and beverages. The Packaging sector operates production facilities in 12 countries across Europe, United States and Latin America and has sales outlets in 46 countries.
