Glass roofs and skylights

Bring added light into your building to maximise the feeling of space and warmth. Sloping glazing offers compelling benefits, such as thermal and solar control, a reduction in solar heat and controlled light transmittance combined with thermal or enhanced thermal insulation. When sloping glazing is to be used in the presence of people, the use of laminated glass is strongly recommended, if not mandatory. This means that in the instance of breakage, the glass remains bonded to the PVB interlayer and is less likely to cause injury.

SGG BIOCLEAN COOL-LITE ST

SGG BIOCLEAN COOL-LITE ST is a dual-function glass that provides both solar protection and a self-cleaning low-maintenance coating on the outside surface.  This unique glass combines two coatings so you can have the best of both worlds! The SGG BIOCLEAN coating harnesses UV light and rain to efficiently breakdown and rinse away dirty residues so your windows stay cleaner for longer. At the same time the SGG COOL-LITE coating blocks up to 2/3 of heat by reflecting it to the outside therefore keeping the interior temperature cooler during sunny spells.

SGG SECURIT

SGG SECURIT is a toughened safety glass. It has undergone a special heat treatment to increase its strength and resistance to impact. In fact it is approximately five times more resistant than normal glass. As an example a piece of 8mm toughened glass will be able to withstand a steel ball weighing 500g dropped from a height of 2 metres.

Windows

Insulating glass units are used in essentially all exterior building applications. Installed in windows and facades, double glazing options allow thermal insulation during the cooler seasons; protection from overheating during warm periods; energy savings in heating systems, air conditioning and artificial lighting; protection of the environment; and isolation from outside noise.

Key products include:

SGG EcoClear

SGG EcoClear® is a range of double glazed unit products designed by Solaglas to facilitate Energy Saving Recommended windows.

Incorporating new SGG PLANITHERM® TOTAL thermally insulating glass technology, windows glazed with EcoClear can achieve A, B and C BFRC Window Energy Ratings (WERs) in most frames. Windows glazed with EcoClear improve the energy efficiency of homes AND allow a homeowner to save money on their heating bills. EcoClear also works to reduce CO2 emissions and is made from over 30% recycled glass.

Where possible, waste generated through the production process is fully recycled. At the end of the life cycle of the frame the timber, glass, aluminium, and fittings are fully recyclable.

SGG COOL-LITE

SGG COOL-LITE is a solar control glass, which blocks up to 2/3 of heat by reflecting it to the outside. It can be used to help keep the interior cooler during hot months. The glass has a microscopically thin coating on one face which provides an attractive appearance and reduces glare from direct sunlight.

Swisspacer

SGG SWISSPACER is a thermally optimised spacer bar made from a highly insulating composite plastic. Extremely thin metal membranes, consisting of either aluminium or stainless steel, guarantee both leak tightness for the filling gases and water vapour and an excellent adhesion for all insulation glass sealing compounds. SGG SWISSPACER is mechanically and thermally resistant up to constant temperatures of 100 °C.

SGG SWISSPACER is available from bright yellow to subtle grey. Choose the suitable colour without glossy metal effects and with perfect 90° corners, for the best insulation glass compound.

Conservatories

Conservatories add light and space to any building, making it a place for all seasons.  Because the glazing element is the most important material in this type of building it is critical to choose the most suitable type of glazing.

  • In summer – it must reduce passive solar heat energy
  • In winter – excellent thermal insulation must be provided to prevent cold spots, whilst reducing heating bills and maintaining good natural light
  • All year round – the glazing should enable buildings to benefit from natural sunlight without heat build up

Key products include:

SGG PLANITHERM 4S

SGG PLANITHERM 4S combines solar control and thermal insulating properties. Providing a comfortable year round environment, it is ideal for conservatory applications and can be used in both the roofs and the vertical glazing.

SGG STADIP SILENCE

SGG STADIP SILENCE combines two sheets of clear glass bonded together with a totally transparent plastic interlayer. The interlayer absorbs sound and reduces the level transmitted through the glass helping to keep both unwanted noise out, or to keep noise in.

Glass facades

The external envelope of a building fulfils the primary function of protecting the interior from the outside elements. Additionally, double glazing options enable thermal insulation during the cooler seasons; protection from overheating during warm periods; energy savings in heating systems; air conditioning and artificial lighting; protection of the environment; and isolation from outside noise.

The external envelope of a building also projects an image to the outside world by combining design and functional objectives.

A broad range of double glazed units (DGUs), tempered, laminated, annealed and coloured enamelled glasses offer great flexibility in terms of appearance, performance, and composition options to suit modern architectural requirements.

Key products include:

SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT

SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT are made up of two or more sheets of glass bonded together with a plastic interlayer.  After the plastic has been placed between the glass sheets, the whole assembly is subjected to heat and pressure. This results in the complete adhesion of the vinyl and the glass.

In the event of breakage, the glass fragments remain bonded to the plastic interlayer. In a fully framed conventional installation the glass fragments are held together and the glass retains a residual strength while awaiting replacement.

SGG CLIMAPLUS

SGG CLIMAPLUS double glazed units incorporate a low emissivity coating on one face.  This provides a significantly improved or very low U-value compared to ordinary SGG CLIMALIT double glazing.

Glass wall cladding

Whether for the interior or the exterior, decorative glass claddings provide an attractive, practical and cost-effective alternative to tiling, painting, and other forms of decoration. Because enamelled glass is used mainly for this application, great benefits can be derived in the area of daily maintenance.

A broad range of tempered, laminated, enamelled, curved and specially treated glass offers great flexibility in terms of appearance, performance, and composition options to suit modern architectural requirements.

Key products include:

SGG LITE-WALL®

SGG LITE-WALL® is a bolted glass assembly system, consisting of double glazed units with concealed bolts or single glazed units, installed using counter-sunk bolts. This system is used to create flush external glazing, fixed to an independent support structure, allowing large pane sizes and minimum framing.

From an architectural point of view, this high-tech system accentuates light, transparency and visibility through glass.
