External wall insulation (EWI) systems

Weber manufactures a comprehensive range of external wall insulation systems to meet the rising insulation requirements within the industry.  Weber external wall insulation systems can significantly reduce heat loss leading to lower heating bills and carbon emissions. As well as improving thermal efficiency, Weber external wall insulation systems revitalise the appearance of buildings and can be major contributors to the regeneration of run-down housing schemes.

A complete solution is provided by Weber, which includes technical support before the system is installed, on-site support whilst the installation is in progress and guarantees for after the work is complete.

External wall insulation

Saint-Gobain supply innovative insulation solutions to the UK construction industry.  Its high performance glass mineral wool insulation provides thermal efficiency, acoustic comfort, fire protection and moisture control.

Saint-Gobain Isover can provide a number of products for external walls.

Key products include:

  • Hi-Cav 32 - Silicone impregnated glass mineral wool slabs providing high levels of thermal insulation in masonry cavity walls.
  • Isover steel frame insulation system - SF3+ is a three part insulation system for use in lightweight steel frame walls in new-build projects that combines the benefits of ISOVER Steel Frame Batts, ISOVER Steel Frame Infill Batts and ISOVER Self Adhesive Cavity Barriers. In addition, it offers the further option of the ISOVER Vario Membrane to improve air leakage performance and airtightness through its patented technology.
  • Timber frame rolls and batts - Rolls and batts suitable for use in timber frame external and separating wall constructions.
  • Frame Batt 32/34/40 and Frame Roll 43

Moisture management

Vario KM Duplex is the next generation vapour control membrane for use in existing and new build roof and wall constructions, with the added benefit of bringing excellent air leakage performance to the building envelope.

It consists of an innovative nylon based membrane, which provides more flexible vapour control than low permeability polythene films which can trap moisture in the assembly during certain seasonal conditions. By absorbing water from the air and thereby opening molecular pores, Vario changes its vapour permeability with the ambient humidity conditions.

Vario film has a thickness of 50μm, combined with low flammability.

Cavity wall insulation

Walltherm from Saint-Gobain Isover is blown wool which provides thermal insulation in domestic type cavity external walls.

Installing cavity wall insulation has been highlighted by the Government as the major measure in the fight against domestic energy wastage, helping to slow down climate change, reduce CO2 emissions and move towards a low carbon economy. The Walltherm product is suitable for the insulation of cavity walls and is therefore perfectly placed to help to achieve the Government's ambitious targets outlined in the CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) policy to reduce CO2 emissions.

Reinforcing fabrics

Saint-Gobain’s range of reinforcing fabrics made from textile glass are designed to prevent cracking in a variety of external applications such as walls, flooring, roads, pavements etc. They can also be used in interior walls & ceilings.

Our open mesh fabrics will cope easily with the stresses caused by changes in climate as they are only subject to minimal expansion. This means they will prevent cracks forming in render, reinforcement layer or paint. They can also be used to bridge / cover any existing damage to a wall surface. Some fabrics play a vital role in ETICS (External Thermo Insulating Composite Systems). Other smooth fabrics can bridge cracks in walls and are suitable for a wide range of repair applications.

Special fabrics have been developed for building rehabilitation and for both new and repaired asphalt concrete pavements.

Via its Technical Fabrics business, Saint-Gobain can offer a wide range of reinforcement fabrics which provide an effective, customised solution for your application.
