It is estimated that at least 75% of our existing 25 million homes will still be with us in 2050. So if we are to meet the government’s target of reducing the UK’s CO2 emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 and creating a more sustainable future we need to embark on a country-wide energy efficiency programme which must reach every one of these homes.
This represents a daunting challenge, both technically and financially, and will require a concerted effort between all involved if we are to succeed.
At Saint-Gobain we are committed to working closely with our partners in every part of the private and social housing sectors to deliver this scale of refurbishment, not just to individual houses, but to whole streets and communities. We have products and solutions that can reduce carbon emissions and fuel bills, and improve energy efficiency and householder comfort, whether it’s a 15 storey apartment block or a ‘hard-to-treat’ solid wall Victorian semi.
