Stamford Homes North, in conjunction with social housing landlord Shoreline Housing Partnership, has embarked on an eight-year, multi-million pound development in Grimsby – ‘Freshney Green’ - comprising 440 new two, three and four bedroom homes, a neighbourhood green, eco-gardens and children’s play areas.
A central theme for Freshney Green is sustainability. Part-funded by the Government, the development incorporates affordable housing and must meet Level Three of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Key to the buildings’ environmental performance has been the installation of Nibe Fighter 360p exhaust heat pumps, supplied by Greenworks via Jewson in Grimsby. Pumps will provide both radiator and domestic hot water for the properties.
Andrew Gawthorpe, Commercial Director for Stamford Homes North comments: “We have reduced the environmental impact of Freshney Green homes by specifying energy saving products and committing ourselves to local sourcing of labour, products and services where possible.” Comprising an air source heat pump and maintenance-free hot water heater, the Nibe Fighter 360p unit was chosen for its efficiency, economic running costs and suitability for both apartments and houses. It has a heat demand of approximately 4-5 kW with an average room height of 2.5m and a maximum area of 160m”.
Andy adds: “Currently the Nibe Fighter 360p is the most suitable product for the development but, as advances continue to be made in energy efficiency and performance, we will constantly be reviewing this. Greenworks are able to offer us continued advice and expertise on any appropriate sustainable energy solutions that become available.”
“Via our nationwide network of merchants, we offer what is probably the largest range of sustainable and renewable energy products in the UK” explains Malcolm Gough, National Market Manager for Greenworks. “We are a single source of supply for the products needed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes ratings and through our training academy installers can learn how to install a variety of renewable energy technologies and gain nationally recognised independent qualifications.”
The Freshney Green contract has led to further work with Stamford Homes North and a contract NIBE FIGHTER 360P exhaust air heat pump with Stamford Homes Midlands.
