Saint-Gobain has organised an International EHS Day every two years since 2004, providing a unique opportunity for all employees around the world to reflect together on our core values.
On 7 October 2010, all our companies and brands marked Saint-Gobain’s International Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) day with a variety of activities to raise the profile of EHS issues and highlight the responsibility that we all share for improving our performance in these areas.
Saint-Gobain has organised an International EHS Day every two years since 2004, providing a unique opportunity for all employees around the world to reflect together on our core values. Managers are asked to devise at least one local initiative to raise the profile of the environment, health and safety with employees and customers.
To help make this year’s day a success, the UK and Ireland Communication team created a communications campaign to support the day. This included a short film featuring Pierre-André de Chalendar and General Delegate Peter Hindle MBE, shown to all employees on the day, and a sustainability booklet that provided staff with a guide to the key areas we need to focus on, including information about what we are doing as a company and some ideas of steps we can all take to turn our sustainability commitments into actions.
Some of the activities organised across the UK and Ireland included:
• Solaglas
Car hazard spotting, fire safety and Indian head massages
• Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics
Cycle to work scheme and fire brigade on site
• Saint-Gobain Abrasives
