Zero production waste to landfill

Waste to Landfill

British Gypsum is celebrated the first anniversary of its industry leading zero production waste to landfill achievement this year – and is moving ever closer towards eliminating virtually all site waste across all of its UK operations.

Having eliminated waste from 70,000 tonnes per year to zero in April 2010, this achievement has been recognised as setting a precedent for the rest of the construction industry to follow, both in terms of environmental benefits and achieving significant cost savings. The company now sends no plasterboard or plaster waste to landfill and has a zero plaster/plasterboard waste to landfill policy.

Developed for main contractors, house builders, builder’s merchants and subcontractors, the service operates a skip or bag collection at over 1,500 building sites nationwide per year. This system of recycling plasterboard back into new plasterboard production provides customers with an infinitely sustainable solution.
