Saint-Gobain is proud to be an active member of Business in the Community (BITC) and supports a number of BITC's initiatives including Responsible Business Week, Opportunity Now and Business Class. Several of Saint-Gobain’s businesses have strong relationships with BITC, including:
Ceramic Tile Distributors [CTD] who partner with an all-girls in Newcastle, through BITC's Business Class programme, helping prepare young people for the world of work
Saint-Gobain PAM and Weber who are part of a three-year partnership at a Telford school, helping students with their CVs, attending career days, workshops and supporting the school with work-based projects helping shape the future skills and employability of the next generation.
Richard Batley, HR Director at Saint-Gobain UK Ireland & South Africa said about Saint-Gobain's partnership with BITC:
“Investing in training, skills and the development of people, regardless of age, is a key ambition for Saint-Gobain. These values are reflected in our membership with BITC. Investment in people will support our customer base, as many of those who enter the construction profession will work for or alongside our customers. Our ambition also extends to the 16,750 people we employ in the UK & Ireland, encouraging their development and creating a sustainable and engaged organisation.
Majid Khan from BITC said:
“Saint-Gobain’s commitment to people and training, as well as the importance they place on the relationship with their local communities across the country fits well with our values and priorities.”
