Learning from the Olympics

With just 161 days until the eyes of the world are on the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, we are delighted to be supporting the UK-GBC’s latest Sustainability Training & Education Programme – London 2012 Sustainability Lessons Learned.

This interactive and technical series of sessions offer attendees a rare opportunity to hear about the construction of the London 2012 Olympic Games and to find out how the lessons learned can help future sustainable projects.

Covering a number of key issues including materials, energy & carbon and biodiversity, the CPD accredited ‘Masterclass’ sessions will focus on the detailed technical lessons learned during the construction process. People directly involved in delivering London 2012 will share their experiences and highlight the successes, challenges and innovative solutions used during the planning, constructing and staging of the ‘Greenest Games’ ever.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from the entire project team (i.e. architect, client, engineer and operator) responsible for some of the most high-profile 2012 Olympic structures in a series of ‘Olympic Venue Breakfast Sessions’.  Taking a more informal approach, each session will focus on the delivery of one key structure, such as the Aquatic Centre, and the relevant project team panel will openly and honestly discuss the successes and challenges they faced delivering a sustainable venue for London 2012.

All sessions are taking place at The Building Centre in London throughout the year. If you are interested in registering, or would like to find out more about the series, visit www.ukgbc.org.
