Santa’s top tips for a warm and comfortable Christmas

As Christmas draws nearer spare a thought for Santa Claus as he gears up to deliver sackloads of presents with the help of his trusty helpers and reindeer.  Making sure all the gifts are delivered to homes around the world ready for Christmas morning is no mean feat, so it’s not surprising that he likes to put his feet up and relax in the comfort of his own home once his work is done.

Conditions in the North Pole are cold and snowy, but luckily Santa Claus has a cosy home to return to.  Here, we share some of his tips for a warm and comfortable Christmas:

Baby it’s cold outside
It’s another cold and snowy night in the North Pole and Santa is tucked up snugly in bed, wrapped in a warm blanket.  You could say he’s well insulated – rather like his house, where he’s recently had a Weber External Wall Insulation (EWI) system installed.  He’s also topped up his loft insulation with Spacesaver Plus insulation from Isover, reducing heat loss through the roof.

All is bright
In winter the North Pole is in darkness for twenty four hours a day, so when Santa draws back the curtains on Christmas Eve morning it’s not sunlight, but moonlight that floods his home.

He’s had Planitherm windows from Saint-Gobain Glass fitted so he knows that they’ll let the light in without letting the heat escape.  During the constant daylight hours in summer they will capture free energy from the natural daylight, delivering savings of up to 28 per cent on energy bills, while the Suneka panels from Saint-Gobain Solar mean Santa can generate his own electricity.

Deck the halls

Holly

It’s the busiest time of year for Santa and his helpers as they march back and forth down the corridors of his North Pole headquarters armed with gifts ready for loading on to the sleigh.  With so many sacks of toys and presents to shift, there’s always been danger of accidental damage to the walls.  However, things are different this year as Santa’s decked the halls – not with boughs of holly but with Thistle: Thistle Durafinish to be precise.

Developed to be 60 per cent tougher than standard plaster, British Gypsum’s Thistle Durafinish has high resistance to accidental and intentional damage, meaning Santa’s walls will withstand any knocks and scrapes this year.

Away in a manger
On Christmas morning when all the gifts have been delivered the reindeer retire to their purpose build stable block, which is made from Accoya cladding supplied by International Timber.  To protect it from the elements, International Timber recommended two coats of Wood Guard protective coating, which were applied in their factory.  The wide range of colours available even enabled them to match the finish to Rudolph’s red nose.
