SAINT-GOBAIN ISOVER’S 2014 STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION OPENS FOR ENTRIES

Leading insulation manufacturer Saint-Gobain Isover has opened its annual Multi-Comfort House Student Contest for entry. The prestigious design competition is open to architecture students across the UK and provides a showcase for talent at undergraduate and post-graduate level.

The brief for the 2014 competition tasks entrants with presenting a design vision for a school in the Metropolitan Municipality of Gaziantep, Turkey, which is currently implementing its ‘Climate Change Action Plan’. This initiative aims to improve the life of citizens through a focus on sustainability, and as part Turkey’s commitment to the Kyoto Protocol.

As well as combining classical school elements with modern learning facilities, designs must be suitable for pupils aged 6 to 10 and result in a building with the highest degree of comfort and the lowest possible energy consumption.
The first round of the Multi-Comfort House Student Contest will be judged by leading industry experts on the 24th April 2014. The winning British team will then travel to the international final in May 2014. Entrants from around the world will compete for international peer recognition and a cash prize.

Helen Tunnicliffe, Head of Marketing said: “This competition is incredibly popular, and year after year we see some of the globe’s brightest talent presenting their architectural visions for the future. I’d encourage all architecture students from RIBA accredited universities to get involved – not only is the Multi-Comfort House Student Contest a fantastic opportunity for further learning by getting the opportunity to work on a live brief, but it also looks fantastic on a CV.”

Registration to the Isover Multi-Comfort House Student Contest 2014 is open until 31st January 2014.
