British Gypsum on the BBC
British Gypsum’s Brightling Mine, one of the oldest in the UK, will feature in the new BBC One series: The Great British Countryside. The four part series, presented by comedian Hugh Dennis and television personality Julia Bradbury, examines Britain’s geologically diverse and stunning landscapes to discover how our epic past is still affecting Britain today.
Focusing on a different region per episode, the series takes viewers through a journey of the countryside, exploring each area’s different industries and discovering how they operate in places of natural beauty. In episode three, Hugh and the team take a trip down British Gypsum’s Brightling Mine in East Sussex to find out how the gypsum rock is mined with minimal affect on the beautiful surroundings.
British Gypsum is committed to the protection and conservation of local communities and environments. This ethos is fundamental to the company’s values, and all sites, functions and stakeholders (including suppliers) are encouraged to contribute to this.
British Gypsum will feature in the third episode, on 1 March 2012, and you can find out more about the show by visiting www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01c9wdd.
