New insulation system delivers code level 6

Isover’s new party wall insulation system – E-WM-17 incorporating Isover RD Party Wall Roll – played a key role in the attainment of Code Levels 4 and 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) at two, three bedroom homes built by Tarmac at the University of Nottingham. 

The new insulation benchmark for acoustic performance, Isover’s E-WM-17 Robust Detail system enabled Tarmac to achieve excellent sound insulation results and obtain the maximum possible number of credits in this area under the Code for Sustainable Homes.

A masonry separating wall solution for new build residential buildings, E-WM-17 incorporating Isover RD Party Wall Roll delivers unrivalled acoustic performance.   In order to reach maximum credits for sound insulation, Isover’s E-WM-17 insulation system had to achieve a sound insulation performance of up to 53dB.

On site acoustic testing was conducted on the ground and first floors with a sound source on one side of the party wall and a microphone on the other to measure the volume the sound would need to reach before causing disruption.  The insulation delivered results of 57dB and 60dB, far exceeding the expected 53dB required for maximum CfSH points.
