Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, the world leader in the habitat and construction markets, has launched its 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Review. The annual Review serves to update customers and stakeholders on Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland’s approach and progress in sustainable development.
Previously named Sustainable Development Review the CSR Review highlights key challenges facing the industry and society at present and reviews how Saint-Gobain in the UK and Ireland is helping to tackle these challenges. The change in title reflects a change in global terminology by the Saint-Gobain Group
Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland has spent time understanding the important issues to its stakeholders. This year’s introduction of an advisory panel, comprising customers, NGOs, charities and sustainability experts, has helped to shape Saint-Gobain’s thinking. Figures including those from WWF, Shelter and Balfour Beatty offered critical advice, guidance and feedback to challenge current progress and help evolve future reporting on sustainability.
Peter Hindle MBE, Senior Vice President for Sustainable Habitat, Saint-Gobain; and General Delegate for Saint-Gobain UK, Ireland and South Africa said: “We have identified several areas in this review in which Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland can play a strong role: supporting our industry – by providing future skills and training and being a strong and collaborative advocate; eco-innovation – adding value to customers and stakeholders by embedding a culture of eco-innovation across the business to help enhance the environmental performance of its products and capture more innovation opportunities across its value chain; and resource management. The review addresses the key issues in these areas, looking at how we can positively approach them to reduce our impacts, seize the opportunities of a changing world, and help add value to our customers, communities and those who touch our business.
