Today (8th March 2018) is International Women’s Day, a time to pause and celebrate women’s achievements across all walks of life and reflect on what more we have to do to achieve true equality.
Andrea Huckett, Director for Diversity and Inclusion for Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland, shares her thoughts on the launch of a new women's network launched today:
"Women constitute half the world’s population and Saint-Gobain is committed to achieving greater diversity and inclusion and being truly reflective of the communities around us and the customers we serve.
At Saint-Gobain, we want everyone to be the best that they can be and have the opportunity to develop a career without boundaries. As part of our UK and Ireland Diversity and Inclusion strategy, I am really pleased that today we are bringing together a group of senior leaders to discuss the relaunch of our UK and Ireland women’s network.
We recognise the important role networks have in connecting people with shared experiences. The ultimate aim is to accelerate development and enable everyone to play a part in delivering our mission of creating great living spaces and improving daily life. Our women’s network will create more opportunities for inspiration, learning and knowledge sharing about career development as well as the issues that drive innovation, customer intimacy, business performance and development of our people.
We hope that the Women’s Network will help make connections much more accessible, for men and women alike."
The relaunch of the women’s network is just one of the activities that Saint-Gobain has identified as part of its Diversity and Inclusion Roadmap over the next three years and beyond.
