Who are Local Merchant Group?
Local Merchant Group (also known as LMG) are part of multinational organisation, Saint-Gobain. We are made up of 9 Builders’ Merchant brands (including Gibbs & Dandy), with branches across the UK and Ireland. As Builders’ Merchants, it’s our job to offer a wide range of building materials to trading customers, from carpenters to tilers, to ground workers and even DIY enthusiasts.
The day-to-day role:
We are currently looking for apprentices to join our business across our LMG brands nationwide. On our apprenticeship programme, you will join us as a Merchant Trainee in one of our many branches. In this role, you will work in a range of departments, such as the yard and the sales counter, getting to grips with our business, our customers and our products. On a typical day, you’ll deal with a number of our customers, both face to face and on the phone. Whilst the day will be very busy, you can also expect a lot of banter with both your team and your customers as you work.
Your learning and development:
After your initial first 3 months with the business, you will begin your apprenticeship training. During this course lasting between 12-18 months, you will learn more about our business, our operations and how to provide great customer service. The majority of your learning will be on the job, but you will also need to study independently for a few hours a week to reinforce your new skill set. Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded your recognised apprenticeship qualification and will be offered a role within the organisation.
