Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of our strategic priorities

Embracing diversity and inclusion

At Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, we feel that Diversity, Equality, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) in the workplace is both right, and a fundamental strategic value driver for the whole business.

By embracing diversity as a business, we build stronger teams, make wiser decisions, and ultimately shape a brighter future for ourselves and the communities we serve.

To ensure we meet our goals of building a diverse workforce and creating an inclusive environment, we must all work together to embrace Diversity, Equality, Inclusion & Belonging and we will ensure that all colleagues, including prospective colleagues, are treated fairly and as equals in our employment.

We are an inclusive employer and keen to hire talented people regardless of their background, abilities, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, what football team you support, taste in music, fashion sense or anything else that makes you, you!

We believe that working in a diverse business can be more enjoyable, teams can be more innovative, and make better decisions. We already employ many fantastic people from diverse backgrounds, but we still want to do more.

So, we are on a mission to make Saint-Gobain inclusive and accessible to all, with role models for you to look up to and learn from, no matter who you are!

Our actions and targets

At Saint-Gobain we have a Together As One network, which brings together colleagues across our UK & Ireland businesses to support with our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. This group works on multiple topics, with the intent of identifying immediate and longer-term actions we can take to be more inclusive, support colleagues and managers more, improve our approach to recruitment and internal mobility as well as in other areas. These topics include:

  • Recruiting for diversity, and being an inclusive employer
  • How we support managers – we understand that everyone is different, and not everyone is comfortable approaching the topic of inclusivity and diversity. We want to help break down barriers and support managers with this

In 2023, Saint-Gobain announced new objectives for gender diversity in management bodies:

"Our objective for 2025 is to reach 30% of women executives within the Group, compared to 27.2% in 2022".
