Jewson’s Pedal for Pounds charity event is shortlisted in this year’s Business Charity Awards.
In November 2021, colleagues from Jewson branches raised funds for charity partners Barnardo’s and Band of Builders to help the most vulnerable in their communities.
Pedal for Pounds brought together 54 teams across the country from all areas of business covering 8,845 kilometres on their bikes, raising £117,000. The money will be split towards funding and supporting Gap Homes, Barnardo’s YouthBuild Academy, and Band of Builders to help more members of the construction industry who face life changing or limiting circumstances. We work alongside Barnardo’s on the Gap Homes project and YouthBuild Academy. The Gap Homes initiative has been created to deliver high quality homes for young people leaving care and supporting their transition to independent living. The YouthBuild Academy delivers a construction skills course to provide them with the skills to progress into the industry.
Due to this they have now been shortlisted in the Challenge Event of the Year category at the Business Charity Awards. This awards, run by Third Sector, recognises the outstanding support given by businesses to UK charities and voluntary organisations. The winner will be announced on the 19th May 2022.
Mike Newnham, Chief Executive Saint-Gobain Building Distribution UK & Ireland said:
"The fact that a Saint-Gobain charity event has been shortlisted for the third year running is further recognition of all the efforts of our team to make the world a better home and gives us another chance to come together to celebrate our partnership with these two amazing charities."
