Saint-Gobain has completed the acquisition of Pritex
Saint-Gobain has completed the acquisition of Pritex, a UK based manufacturer of acoustic and thermal insulation solutions.
Their solutions help to reduce the noise, and improve the performance of a wide range of products, improving the lives of motorists, industrial machine and heavy plant operators and consumers when fitted to cars, industrial equipment and home appliances such as boilers, vacuum cleaners and washing machines.
The business is heavily focussed on the mobility/automotive market and the acquisition will allow the Saint-Gobain Mobility business unit, which incorporates Saint-Gobain Sekurit, to expand its business beyond automotive glazing and become a provider of solutions in the mobility market for comfort, safety and energy saving. This is especially important for the growth of the business unit with the development of electric vehicles, as the need for greater noise control, comfort and lightweight solutions is gaining momentum.
Pritex employs 240 people, was established in 1959 and has its base, and technical and testing facilities in Taunton, Somerset. Pritex achieved close to €20 million in sales in 2018. The business is well established in the UK market and growing its presence now across Europe.
The acquisition of Pritex follows Saint-Gobain's acquisition of UK-based manufacturer Farecla in December 2018. Farecla is a manufacturer of high-performance finishing products used mainly in the mobility/automotive sector, by car manufacturers and body shops. Based in Ware, in Hertfordshire, with 75 employees both Farecla and Pritex are part of Saint-Gobain High Performance Solutions.
