As the coronavirus situation evolves in the UK and Ireland, we'll be keeping this page updated with the latest information from Saint-Gobain in the UK and Ireland.
Updated: 9th APRIL 2020
We would like to thank our fantastic colleagues for their commitment and efforts during what is a very difficult time. Also we thank our customers and suppliers, many of whom themselves face very difficult circumstances, including some supply disruption.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all those in the UK & Ireland in our emergency services, national health services and those helping to keep essential services and infrastructure running. We are encouraging all those in our business to show their support for our essential workers and the work they are doing.
As we manage our business through these rapidly changing times, we are trying to balance many things.
Firstly, our priority to protect employees and their health, wellbeing and safety as well as other important needs including protecting colleagues’ livelihoods, supporting customers, many of whom are self-employed and rely on us, and of course the critical need to support the nationwide response to the Covid-19 crisis. This is something we are completely committed to.
At this time our businesses are focusing all their efforts on supporting essential services and critical infrastructure only. Our branches are operating limited networks to do this from and have altered their services to delivery only.
Many of our brands are part of an essential supply chain that supports national and local infrastructure, including hospitals and care facilities, schools, public buildings and utilities including the water, electricity and telecommunications industries. Some of our brands also directly support the food and biopharmaceutical industries and are critical partners to businesses in these industries.
There are many examples over the last few weeks of the dedication of our colleagues to make sure these types of essential services are supported so they are not delayed or impacted. We are very proud of colleagues’ efforts to support the collective national endeavour.
Our sites are practicing social distancing and we have put in place detailed measures and provided PPE to ensure those in our business who are working are doing so in accordance with the advice from government and health authorities. These processes are under constant review so that any risk to our colleagues, and their families, is minimised.
We are actively supporting colleagues closely at this time whether they are working in our sites doing essential work, working from home or currently on furlough.
We await further information from the government at this time and will be following government advice to ensure Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland fully supports the endeavour of the UK & Irish governments to combat Covid19.
