Very quickly, I took on the Customer Care role, managing customer disputes and queries. That experience gave me a direct line into the Accounts Receivable team—I started sitting in on their monthly reviews and became more curious about the credit control process. I could see how the relationship-building skills and problem-solving I’d developed could be put to use in a more financial, analytical role.
When a Credit Controller position opened up in 2021, I jumped at the chance. I already had a strong knowledge of the Okarno ledger and knew many of the customers, so the transition felt natural. Since then, I’ve taken on additional responsibilities, including supporting the Order to Cash (OTC) team during maternity cover, which gave me even broader experience.
What I love most about my role is the people—both my team and our customers. Every day brings a new challenge, whether that’s unravelling aged queries, resolving disputes, or helping our customers stay on top of their payments. There's a real sense of satisfaction in making progress, and knowing that by securing timely payments, we're directly contributing to Saint-Gobain’s ability to invest in sustainable innovation and build a better home for all.
Beyond my day-to-day, I’ve had the opportunity to lead fundraising efforts for Barnardo’s, our partner charity. One of my proudest moments was receiving the very first Nature Fund grant for a local primary school, Brookside, alongside my colleague Jess. Giving back to the community in such a tangible way—through sustainability-focused projects—is where I feel I can make the biggest difference. For me, it's about more than numbers; it's about people, purpose, and impact.
