Introduction:

Modern office space, retail stores, and opulent dorms are all combined in Sheffield's city center's impressive multi-use, high-end project called New Era Square.

Problem:

To assist the project team in achieving the desired finish across the multi-use site, our Project Specification Managers and Technical Consultants offered the client with comprehensive technical assistance and know-how to help transform their vision into a building that works for the people it serves. This included generating a variety of comprehensive project packets for sub-contractor quotations, acoustic and fire reports, and assisting with frequent site meetings to advise on details.

Solution:

For the second phase of New Era Square, a variety of high-performance drylining options were selected to satisfy the developer's requirements for structural, acoustic, and fire protection performance to assure the safety and comfort of those who use the building.

Gyproc DuraLine was one of these alternatives, with added fire resistance and a high-density core for improved sound insulation and impact resistance.

To complement Gyproc DuraLine, British Gypsum Thistle MultiFinish plaster was used to achieve a clean skim finish in the student housing sections. Thistle MultiFinish, which is versatile in application, was used throughout the New Era Square development to give a hard-wearing surface for painting.

Along with our high-performance drylining solutions for the inside of New Era Square, we delivered our Glasroc X sheathing board to defend against the elements during construction.
