CX Week - CELEBRATING OUR CUSTOMER HEROES

Celebrating our customer heros

Timing is everything for Ross Kinsey

As a Network Performance Manager, he ensures that every link in the transport chain operates like clockwork, directly contributing to the success of his customers’ yard operations.

Ross’s day job revolves around orchestrating deliveries to meet his customers’ needs. “Part of my role is about making sure we space out deliveries so our customers can manage their own vehicles and keep their yard operations running smoothly,” he explains. By coordinating delivery times to match the customer’s needs, he ensures that products are available exactly when they’re needed, without overwhelming the yard.

We were able to control vehicle flow and keep up with increased demand. This revised schedule ensured our deliveries didn’t clash with other vehicles, maintaining a safe and efficient yard environment for everyone.

Delivering with precision

Ross’s dedication shines when challenges arise. When a major customer faced a surge in demand, he worked closely with the warehouse manager to tailor delivery timings, ensuring safety and smooth operations for their yard operatives.

“We were able to control vehicle flow and keep up with increased demand. This revised schedule ensured our deliveries didn’t clash with other vehicles, maintaining a safe and efficient yard environment for everyone,” he recalls.

“It’s all about problem-solving and being adaptable,” Ross says. “Coordinating with customers to find the perfect delivery slots minimizes disruptions and keeps everything running smoothly” he adds.

His hands-on approach even includes riding along with drivers to understand their day-to-day challenges. “Drivers are our most customer-facing team members. It’s important to see what they experience,” he says.

Driving safety forward

Like a good cricket captain, Ross prioritises the safety of his team. He’s proud of the advanced camera technology and track-and-trace systems that keep our fleet safe and efficient.

“We deliver top service levels while keeping our fleet among the safest on the road,” he says. His commitment to safety doesn’t end at the warehouse door; it extends to drivers, customers, and the public.

Ross is committed to community safety and immensely proud of his team’s involvement in the Bee Safe campaign, aimed at educating school kids about road safety. Ross and the wider Distribution team, including XPO our fleet provider, are engaging primary school children with activities, teaching them how to always ‘bee’ safe around large vehicles.

Battling for the planet

Sustainability is also at the forefront of Ross’s mind. By advocating for the use of HVO fuel and trialling electric vehicles, he’s not just focusing on today’s deliveries but also looking ahead to a more sustainable future for Saint-Gobain and its customers.
