RENOVATION AND RETROFIT
Saint-Gobain’s solutions enable developers, and homeowners, to renovate buildings to create more sustainable and high-performing buildings – that improve the wellbeing for occupants, and the performance of the building. In the UK retrofit is seen as a key strategy to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of existing buildings.
Retrofitting involves making modifications to an older building or infrastructure to meet current building codes, safety standards, energy efficiency requirements, or to incorporate new technologies, making them more energy-efficient and comfortable.
AUTOMOTIVE & TRANSPORTATION
We partner with automotive companies and provide materials that are used in London buses, new railway rolling stock and the aviation industry. Saint-Gobain’s Sekurit brand has been a leading supplier high-performing automotive glazing for more than 80 years in road, rail and air transportation.
Saint-Gobain’s Abrasives products, and its trusted Norton brand, provide a range of grinding, sanding and finishing abrasives for all stages of car repair.
Farcela is a manufacturer of surface finishing solutions for automotive bodyshops, detailers and other industrial applications.
AGRICULTURE
Saint-Gobain’s Formula brand supplies natural mineral Gypsum products for soil conditioning or soil remediation/reformation
Particle sizes can be adapted to the requirements of the application – certified for use in animal feed – manufactured and processed in Nottinghamshire.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Saint-Gobain produce a range of high purity gypsum [Ground Gypsum Superfine White/FG200] for use in the manufacture of flour improvers, for bread, biscuits and other flour based products.
Saint-Gobain’s Formula brand produces high purity gypsum for use in processing of raw materials and ingredients for food use, including sugar production, brewing and fish preservation.
TECHNOLOGY
Saint-Gobain’s Performance Plastics divisions manufactures a range of high-performance plastics designed to withstand extreme temperatures including bearings, cable sheathing, seals and foams, seat housings and high-performance heating systems to de-fog and de-ice windshields
The division also produces radomes, used on aircraft to shield, among others, weather radars, satellite antennas, radar warning sensors and other electronic surveillance systems.
Our Rencol brand, manufactures high-performance tolerance rings - for use in hard disk drives.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
Our business is a trusted partner and supplier to many of the UK’s largest infrastructure and civil engineering projects
Our PAM business is the No.1 in the world for supplying ductile iron pipe providing water and sewage management solutions to major infrastructure, utilities and engineering projects.
Leca’s lightweight clay aggregates provide ideal infill solutions in major infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, tunnels, rail and construction projects.
Weber’s technical mortars enhance the performance of concrete – giving it greater durability and lower maintenance.
UTILITIES
Saint-Gobain PAM is a major partner with water utilities in the UK and Ireland, supplying water transportation solutions for water companies, public services and civils contractors.
COSMETIC & MEDICAL
Saint-Gobain Formula produces a range of high quality unformulated base plasters and gypsums are used for manufacturing medical “plaster of paris” bandages.
Saint-Gobain Life Sciences Ireland, formerly Micro Hydraulics, operates in a Class 7 clean room providing hose, silicone tube sets & components to the Bio-Pharma Industry for single-use fluid transfer applications.
SECURITY
Saint-Gobain’s Ceramics division, manufacturing in the North West of England, produces Silicone Carbide Ceramic materials which give protection to law enforcement and security personnel through tailor-made body armour products.
Silicon Carbide, an extremely hard and lightweight material is – tested and approved – and designed to meet the exact requirements of customers.
