What is purpose day?
EHS day is different this year, emphasising it's link to our purpose of Making the World a Better Home.
We aim to bring our purpose to life, and connect colleagues and their roles to our purpose, whilst considering each element of Environment, Health and Safety.
Without considering how our products impact the environment or the role they play in the lives of the end user, or if we were to neglect our responsibility to our colleagues, communities and supply chains, we cannot fulfil our purpose.
Purpose Day offers us the opportunity to explore our key challenges and the part that Saint-Gobain play in overcoming these, whilst showcasing our colleague offer such as learning, benefits, and wellbeing, that make your world a better home.
Climate change is more visible in its effects than ever, and scientific consensus agrees that to avoid the worst effects of climate change, we must limit global warming to no more than 1.5c. Without significant action, the worst effects of climate change could be unavoidable and irreversible – leaving us just six years to act. The construction sector plays a key role in this, as it alone accounts for nearly 40% of annual CO2 emissions worldwide. How can our purpose support our the role that we play in tackling this global issue?
We have a key role to play in supporting the retrofit of aging houses, keeping them warm and cost-efficient to maintain, and building new homes that reflect the learnings from the issues our current housing stock face, and what future homes may face, transitioning away from fossil fuels. Our aim is to support the provision of safe, sustainable, and affordable housing for all, through our solutions and expertise.
We can equip our local communities with the skills needed to build lightweight, low carbon and sustainable buildings through the provision of the skills training required to deliver our solutions at scale. By investing in the skills needed to support the delivery of our solutions, we are fulfilling our purpose to Make the World a Better Home through both the practical implementation of our solutions, and by supporting members of local communities to develop and support their families and livelihoods.
